LETTER FROM TEACHER for December 3 and December 10
As you may have heard, we have heard from several in our CCS community affected by Covid and today Bethel has told us we need to go online for this week as well as next due to Covid cases in their community.
I’m disappointed, as I’m sure many of you are, but it’s a real blessing that we have been able to have uninterrupted in-person classes weekly now since September — and we owe much gratitude to Bethel as well as to our community’s efforts to make that happen. Wishing everyone the best of health and the blessings of this holy season!
Classes will take place ONLINE December 3rd AND December 10th!
December 3 (ONLINE) handouts (you should already have these handouts from November 12th)
LETTER FROM TEACHER, for weeks October 29 and November 5
This is your biweekly email, giving you handouts and class information for the next two weeks, beginning tomorrow.
Important instructions for submitting homework:
While two weeks ago, all but five students submitted their work fully complete, this past week a full third did not. That made for a very frustrating weekend for me as I am having to deal with many more emails than should be necessary.
I know that everyone has an understanding of what an assignment needs to be complete: a. have followed and checked off ALL directions on the assignment sheet b. have included the assignment sheet when submitting the paper c. have included the word count
As a student, it is simply a matter of stopping and evaluating these points BEFORE you submit your paper. That is an essential skill for a good student to develop.
From this point on, any paper submitted incomplete will be returned unread with the word DIRECTIONS on it. It pains me to have to do that, but I know of no other way to make certain that you are learning to be responsible for the quality of your papers.
Also, from this point on, to lessen confusion, unless stated otherwise, all homework will be submitted online no later than Wednesday at 10 p.m.
1. At the bottom is the current Zoom link (the same as we used these past 6 weeks) as well as the NEW Zoom link to be used on Nov. 5
2. Please note: for those attending in person, you do not need to print these files below. I will have all handouts, which will be distributed in class.
3. Announcing Office Hours! In an attempt to both provide time for questions and help, as well as to focus that time to allow me to arrange my schedule, I’m establishing Office Hours each Monday, 2 - 4p.m. Please prioritize using that time to ask questions by email or phone.

3. Please remember: all homework is due Thursday no later than 10:00 p.m. by email. Your writing needs to be intractable so I can write comments easily; please copy it into an email so I can interact easily with it. I prefer that we NOT use google docs as it is cumbersome on my computer. ALWAYS either scan or take a photo of your completed assignment sheet to accompany your writing. Thank you for your careful attention to this new format.

October 1 In person class — (homework submitted in person — be SURE to include the completed assignment sheet)
By now you know that we will be meeting in person at Bethel Lutheran Church every other week and online at the same time the alternating weeks. I have revised the class syllabus to clearly reflect that arrangement for the first semester. Please discard the previously sent syllabus.
If you would like me to include your student’s email on my address list, please send that to me with a clear subject heading: ex. Jane Smith’s email for Omni II
If you become aware that you are NOT receiving my emails, after alerting me you can check the fallclass tab (soon to be established in lieu of the summer tab) on the CCS website as I will be posting these emails there every two weeks. More information will be forthcoming about that tab.
Indeed, this is the first of what will be regular biweekly communications regarding the class. You should anticipate receiving them the Wednesday before an in-person class. They will contain handouts and instructions for the next two weeks. I’ll also include upcoming deadlines for major assignments.
Please note: for those attending in person, you do not need to print these files. I will have all handouts for both weeks, which will be distributed in class.
